Jose Gregorio Ferreira
Awarded with a Marie Curie fellowship, Gregorio spent three years as Early stage researcher focused on condition monitoring strategies for industrial processes and systems. At the conclusion of his fellowship, he presented his research to obtain a PhD on "Multicriteria diagnosis of synchronous machines" in which a methodology, using Machine learning, is proposed to develop an early fault diagnosis system. During this experience, he learnt how companies are struggling with modernizing their infrastructure and become more competitive under current market conditions.
Over the last years, Gregorio has been working in different global roles as part of IT-Innovation groups. Focused on data science and big data analytics, he worked in various business areas. All this time, helped him to realise that the gap between the engineering solutions and the proper implementations is caused by the lack of skills in the IT-Organizations in charge of the technological infrastructure, and the limitations of engineers to scale-up their solutions beyond their laptops.
As a staff data scientist Gregorio designed and implemented an algorithm capable of classifying health care systems according to their need for maintenance working for General Electric, Healthcare. As a chief specialist and later global technology leader Gregorio designed and built the first version of the ABB chat-bot platform leading the global cognitive services team. Currently, Gregorio is part of the Digital transformation and industry 4.0 special task force in Arcelor Mittal Poland, focused on computer vision.”
